Product Description

What Would You Do? Part 1 – 0.3 CEUs

WHAT WOULD YOU DO when confronted with various interpreting scenarios that require an immediate decision and reaction? Some scenarios are ethical in nature, some are best business practices, some involve moral dilemmas, and some are just opportunities to exercise values clarification. This interactive webcast will present participants with video simulations, text simulations, and other opportunities for discourse of possible solutions. At the conclusion of this webcast participants will have a clearer understanding of value judgments and how one determines ethical/moral behavior as it relates to the interpreting profession; will review the stages of value development; and apply these stages of development to situational dilemmas.

What Would You Do? Part 2 – 0.3 CEUs

Certified interpreter David Hylan, CI/CT, hosts this second installment in this series. In the series, scenes of conflict, moral dilemma, or illegal activity involving sign language interpreters are presented through text or acted out by actors. Variations are also usually included, such as changing the situations, genders, the races or the clothing of those involved in the scene, to see if participants will react differently. Hylan leads discussions with participants about their reactions. As the discussion takes place, ethical and moral implications are included, while participants explain and discuss their reactions.

What Would You Do? Part 3 – 0.3 CEUs

Certified interpreter David Hylan, CI/CT, hosts the third installment in this series. In the series, scenes of conflict, moral dilemma, or illegal activity involving sign language interpreters are presented. Variations are also usually included, such as changing the situations, genders, the races or the clothing of those involved in the scene, to see if participants will react differently. Hylan leads discussions with participants about their reactions. As the discussion takes place, ethical and moral implications are included, while participants explain and discuss their reactions.
