This webcast will the first of a five part series. During our three hours together, we will do an overview together of Genesis. In order to interpret scripture, we have to study scripture. Take a walk with me through creation and the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. Enter the ark with Noah and experience the faithfulness of God. Experience the confusion at the Tower of Babel. Dive into the lives of four generations of great men- Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph. After exploring these passages, together we will discuss conceptually accurate ways of interpreting.


  1. Participants will be able to define at least five terms and concepts within the book of Genesis.
  2. Participants will be able to produce with conceptual accuracy, in American Sign Language, at least five scriptures from the book of Genesis.
  3. Participants will be able to demonstrate the use of classifiers when interpreting scripture from the book of Genesis.

This webcast is three hours long and worth 0.3 CEUs. CEUs are professional studies and are approved by RID. Once you watch the video and submit your evaluation form, we will forward your CEUs to RID, if needed, and email you a certificate of completion.

Note – This webinar will include information and signs as they relate to the Christian faith.

Presenter Information

Wendi Coker, NIC
Wendi has worked in the interpreting field for over 20 years and holds National Interpreter Certification (NIC) from the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Her interpreting experience encompasses a variety of settings including, medical, legal, mental health, post-secondary education, vocational and religion. She is currently the Interpreter Coordinator at the Deaf Action Center in Shreveport, LA.

Wendi is an accomplished workshop and webcast presenter on a variety of subjects. She has also worked for the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s office for 8 years in a variety of setting including, civil, patrol and detectives and is Post Certified in law enforcement. Wendi has worked in deaf ministry for over 12 years. Through that ministry, an evangelistic deaf choir was established called “Hands of Praise”. Wendi traveled with this team for several years ministering to deaf all over.
