Terping the Testaments Old: Part 1 Genesis
During our three hours together, we will do an overview together of Genesis. In order to interpret scripture, we have to study scripture. Take a walk with me through creation and the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. Enter the ark with Noah and experience the faithfulness of God. Experience the confusion at the Tower of Babel. Dive into the lives of four generations of great men- Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph. After exploring these passages, together we will discuss conceptually accurate ways of interpreting.
Terping the Testaments Old: Part 2 Exodus
During our three hours together, we will do an overview together of Exodus. In order to interpret scripture, we have to study scripture. Take a walk with me as we encounter plagues, the Passover, the crossing of the Red Sea, and the Ten Commandments on the way to the promise land. we will end with a tour of the Tabernacle. After exploring these passages, together we will discuss conceptually accurate ways of interpreting.
Terping the Testaments Old: Part 3 Leviticus
In Exodus we learned the directions for building the tabernacle. Now, along side Moses, we will take a journey through the book of Leviticus, which gives the laws and regulations for worship in the tabernacle. This will include instructions on offerings, ceremonial cleanliness, moral laws, holy days, the Sabbath year and the year of Jubilee. We will specifically look at the priests and what role they played in each of these. As interpreters we must know the Bible before we can interpret it. You will be challenged to think conceptually and outside the box. See you in the tabernacle!
Terping the Testaments Old: Part 4 Numbers
I would like to invite you to the Wilderness! During our three hours together, we will do an overview together of the book of Numbers. In order to interpret this book of the Bible, we must take a look of the lives of the younger generation, the children of the former slaves that escaped through the Red Sea and how their family’s disobedience affected them. The people of Israel tested God’s patience, and He in turn tested their endurance and faithfulness. We will dabble into scripture looking at important vocabulary and appropriate depictive verbs (Classifiers) that can be used when interpreting this book. Together we will be challenged with using our creativity to bring this book alive. I look forward to seeing you there.
